Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust saves £1.8 million with Proact’s FlexPod solution. To find out more about FlexPod visit our dedicated FlexPod site.
The leading provider of acute hospital services to Wigan Borough and its surrounding areas, forward-thinking Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust (WWL) is committed to providing the best possible healthcare to over 600,000 patients in the area.
In order to deliver safe, efficient patient care, WWL’s staff needed constant access to key services and patient data. So, after a fire broke out close to its datacentre, WWL realised that it required a more secure way in which to store its mission-critical information.
However, like many public sector organisations, making efficiency savings was high on WWL’s agenda, and the Trust was keen to avoid the capital expenditure traditionally associated with an enterprise-class disaster recovery solution.
Knowing that it needed a resilient core infrastructure that would minimise downtime and enable the quick restoration of its key services, WWL trusted in Proact to implement its top-class FlexPod solution. Based on enterprise-class technology fron NetApp, Proact’s FlexPod incorporated both a stable primary site and a secondary facility for disaster recovery services, and enabled WWL to significantly reduce the risk of storing its critical data.
WWL achieved cost savings of £1.8 million over five years as a result of implementing FlexPod, and saw a return on investment in just 18 months. By choosing to partner with Proact, the Trust no longer had to shoulder the burden of IT management, allowing its IT staff to enjoy an improved work-life balance.
