Graduate programme details

With a modular approach, our graduate programme has been designed to give you experience in a variety of business areas, along with a broad overview of how we work. And who we work for, too.

Along with your assigned mentor, you’ll regularly review your progress and build your knowledge. And with access to a wide team of relevant experts, your learning will accelerate fast. In fact, you control your own destiny on the Proact graduate programme – we genuinely tailor your rotations and your career to best suit your skills, aspirations and capabilities. Every graduate experience is unique and truly maximises your opportunity to grow your career as a Proactivist.

Each module will last between three and nine months. And with your mentor and team supporting you, you’ll build experience in the relevant areas, which will help you decide where in Proact you will work on completion of the graduate programme:

Service delivery

Our Service Delivery Management team looks after the IT of organisations whose core business isn’t IT. Customers look to us for best advice and in this module, you’ll learn the art of customer support through technical expertise. The businesses we work with don’t have the technical answers themselves, so your IT knowledge and skills will be vital assets as you help solve their challenges and deliver a solution that meets their needs. You’ll also be responsible for ensuring capacity and performance is closely monitored. Whenever there’s an issue, you’ll help your customer raise a support case and make sure we get their business up and running again as quickly as possible.

Professional services consultants

Working alongside our experienced professional services consultants, you’ll learn the skills to deliver new IT projects for our customers. Projects typically involve visiting customers offices and data centres across the UK to deliver projects that make a difference to how they operate. And by being part of the team that designs and plans new projects, you’ll develop the vital hands-on skills needed to implement business-changing solutions. Most importantly, you’ll co-create solutions with our customer technical teams to deliver technology projects that makes business more successful.

Project management office

Working alongside our project managers, you’ll plan and manage the implementation of our projects. Your technical knowledge will go hand in hand with business-critical timeframes to make sure the right solution is delivered on time and on budget. Timekeeping, foresight and agility are vital skills for this module, and you’ll learn the importance of great communication to all stakeholders – customers, team members and Leadership. Planning is critical, but being able to communicate the change when the project isn’t going to plan are skills that will add to your development in all areas.

Service desk

Whilst planning, implementing and supporting technology infrastructure is vital, the way we react when things go wrong is one of the reasons our customers trust us so much. Your time with the Service Desk team will build on your troubleshooting skills. Not to mention develop your reaction speed to the problems that can happen – after all, his is technology troubleshooting at lightning speed. You’ll learn how to operate our monitoring platform and case management system, and you’ll translate customer problems into a set of clear actions. And, working alongside our technical support consultants, you’ll not only help diagnose and fix problems, but you’ll record the lessons we learn so we can continually improve our service.

Security

Security is an essential part of our business, and our Security Operations Centre (SOC) operates 24×7 365 days per year. They monitor all of our systems, as well as many of our customers’, and they look for unusual activity or trends that may point towards a potential data breach. Working in Security, you’ll become familiar with our security monitoring platform and toolsets. And, you’ll build your understanding of how these are used to investigate threats – and what you need to do next to prevent data loss or incidents from becoming more serious.

MCS Operations Team

Our team of MCS Operations engineers are responsible for ensuring that our managed service platforms are available for our customers and implementing change whether this is expanding, upgrading or generally improving our platform. Working with MCS Operations, you will have exposure to many technologies that are distributed across data centres and are integrated to provide services to our customers. These services need to be reliable, meet customer’s performance expectations and accommodate change. The services including providing platforms for Customer’s systems, monitoring IT systems and protecting services and data. You will have exposure and assist the engineers to respond to support cases, plan and execute change while following documented processes.

Apprenticeship Programme: Sales career pathway

Our Sales Career Pathway programme at Proact is designed to take you from an entry level Sales role, through to a career in Account Management by equipping you with all the knowledge, skills and competence needed to be a successful Sales person. And from the foundations you will learn on our Sales Development programme, the career options are quite literally limitless.

Whilst the programme is designed to prepare you for a career in Sales, we have an open mindset to growing our people and so you may flow off our programme into a number of roles within our business. The skills you will learn on our Sales Development programme will prepare you well for many potential future roles. You will be taught by leading experts in our industry sector, people who have their own successful sales careers. And you will also have an internal buddy and mentor for the duration of the programme – the perfect blend to help you underpin your theoretical learning with practical application.

Duration
Stage 1 (entry to qualified BDAM) 12 -24 months.  Stage 2 (BDAM to Junior Account Manager) 12 – 24 months.  Stage 3 (Junior AM to AM) pace is driven by you.
Entry requirements
Maths and English GCSE Grade C or Level 4
Salary
£25,000 starting salary.  As you progress you will also benefit from our industry leading sales commission scheme.
Qualification investment
You will undertake a fully supported apprenticeship programme with both an apprenticeship tutor and a business mentor. 

You will achieve a Level 4 qualification in Executive Sales accredited by the Association of Professional Sales

Location
We offer hybrid working in Proact (office and remote split).  Stage 1 is London based with some remote working.  Further Stages could be based anywhere in the UK by agreement with you.  Our offices are in London, Manchester, Leeds, Chesterfield and Glasgow.  You will be linked to one of the offices as well as working remotely.
Guaranteed permanent role
At the end of the programme, we’ll offer you a guaranteed permanent role, provided you complete your end point assessment.
